SOME FACTS Lib Dems and Greens didn't bother to put up a candidate! Conservative vote is up by 22% Labour called the election at a cost of £2000 of taxpayers' money when there was no need. That's nearly £12 of local taxpayers' money for each vote that they managed ! Need a postal vote? Too late this time but be ready for the next time ! Brian PAGE
“We are lucky to have found someone of Brian Page’s calibre who wants to serve the people of East Saltdean. A local man who has run a very successful business in East Saltdean for many years up to his recent retirement. Brian’s well demonstrated community awareness, his direct hands on experience of local issues, his track record of commitment to local people and his established integrity during his previous time as both Town and District Councillor are his most significant virtues.” Ron Maskell, Leader of Telscombe Town Council East Saltdean Conservatives deliver on their lower Town On Thursday February 7th, the people of East Saltdean get the chance to stick with a winning team by voting for local businessman Brian Page. The Conservatives took control of the Telscombe Town Council in May of last year and promised to control Council Tax by introducing tighter financial management with a plan to keep Council Tax as low as possible. Conservatives want to provide high quality local services in line with what residents can afford. This year’s Telscombe Town Council increase is amongst the lowest across the County. At Lewes District, Council Tax has TRIPLED under the Lib Dems in the last 12 years, hitting those on lower incomes hardest. |
| Conservatives Resolve Tye Dispute
The long-standing dispute over mounds of chalk and waste which were dumped on the Tye more than two years ago has finally been resolved. The mounds which did not have planning permission had been found to be contaminated with building waste. The South Downs Joint Committee which built the illegal structure on behalf of the (at that time) Lib Dem/Independent Telscombe Town Council, was initially told to remove the bunds by East Sussex County Council in 2005. The order was later upheld last April by an independent planning inspector after an appeal by the Town Council. After talks with the new Conservative Town Council, the County Council intervened last week to offer to carry out the work itself under a cost-sharing deal with the other two parties. East Saltdean Conservative, Brian Page said: “This is is a very positive outcome to what was turning into a long and drawn out process. What we have always wanted was for those bunds to be removed in a way which was both quick and environmentally safe. “I am pleased that we have been able to broker an agreement between the parties , and we now have a resolution beneficial to all concerned - the environmentally damaging bunds will be removed without expensive legal battles between public authorities which I know Council taxpayers would not support.” |
